Calvary Episcopal Church
recently celebrated it's 100th anniversary.
The building was consecrated on May 26, 1902. The
congregation was formed a number of years before that , of
course, but that was the completion of the building date, and
speical services in the new edifice. It's the oldest
church in Bunkie.

We have a new wall------- the old
Horace Guillot building south wall is now a landscape scene.
You can
see it from the street, but it shows off better from the patio
in back
of the Bailey Hotel. From there, it looks like a
continuation of the
bayou and the greenery and trees. Such a nice addition to
our town.

And almost everyone is using
our other new addition, the walking/jogging track at the old BHS.
There
are folks out there all hours of the day and night. Gerard
says there
are still additions to be made, rest rooms, seating, a
flag, etc. It is
really nice. Although no bicycles, 3 wheelers,
skateboards etc. are
allowed, I do see lots of young moms with tots on tricycles
using the
track. It's good that they can get out and exercise with the
kids. Then
the kids can play on the great equipment at the auditorium.
All that
was donated by the Service League.

Have you tried Splenda ??
It's the new sweetener. Made from pure sugar, from La.
sugar cane, it
has no artificial elements that the other sweeteners have and
still is
calorie free. I recommend it. And it's a way we can
support our
farmers.
