Congratulations to our new Corn Fest Queens.
They have big
footprints to follow, but we know they'll do well. We look forward to
seeing them at the Corn Fest and at all local events. Denise McBride
works so hard with them and she loves it. That's one Corn Fest person
who works all year long to promote us. Thanx.
+++++++++++++++++++ Speaking of the Corn Fest, don't
forget to wear your shirts on Fridays. Please, let's do
more decorating this year at our homes and offices. It's such
fun to drive around and see the talent and igenuity
shown by our citizens. And our visitors love it... a way
we can promote Bunkie.
+++++++++++++++++++ The Cochon du Lait is this weekend
in Mansura. Next weekend is the PowWow held by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe
in Marksville. Also next weekend is Sawmill Days in
downtown Fisher (certainly you know where that is).
+++++++++++++++++++ A prime objective of the Bunkie
Chamber of Commerce and the Avoy. Commission of Tourism is
promoting
tourism. To that end, both offices have small give-aways. If you are
having guests, or going to visit, get some goodies from the offices. If
you will be going by a tour center, please bring some of our brochures
to drop off there. We have brochures on hotels, motels and b
nd b's; and on the dining accommocations in the
parish. And we have maps of the parish and state maps.
There is also a booklet about Louisiana, listing all the
events and information about each area of the state.
+++++++++++++++++++ It was some impressive to see
all the Air Streams on the Corn Fest grounds. Elaine and Ralph
Bernard host the group the 1st weekend in May each year.
They do a good job and
the folks enjoy coming to Bunkie. The Bernards had a pig roast
for them Sat. nite... it sure smelled good from my front
porch.
++++++++++++++ Smelling good, and delicious, were the bbq's
held recently by the Firemen and the Rotary Club. We all
love it when someone cooks Sunday dinner for us !!
+++++++++++++++ Off the 'Net: I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a
parallel universe. End Quote"
