Funeral services
for Maude Martin Blankenship Maxwell will be at 10:00 am,
Friday, October 23, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of
Bunkie Dr. La Mon Brown and Rev. Donald Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Pythian Cemetery under the direction of
Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. Mrs. Maxwell, age 91, of
Bunkie passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 in Bunkie
General Hospital. She received a BS Degree from Louisiana
College and a Masters +30 in Education from McNeese State
University and taught Bunkie Middle School for many years
before her retirement. She was also a certified librarian
and was the librarian at Bunkie Middle School and First
Baptist Church of Bunkie. She was preceded in death by her
husbands, Edward R. Blankenship and Otis Maxwell. Survivors
include a daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Bobby of
Bunkie; a son, Edward Blankenship and wife, Sandra of
Bunkie; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one
great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephew. Visitation
will be at Melancon Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009
from 4:30 pm - 8 pm and at First Baptist Church of Bunkie on
Friday from 9 am - 9:45 am.
