James E. "Jimmy" Jeansonne

A loving friend, brother, and uncle, James E. "Jimmy" Jeansonne, went home to the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2009. He was surrounded by adoring family and friends.
 
He was 86 years old, a native of Bunkie and a resident of Baton Rouge for over 60 years.

Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until religious services at 1:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Father Sam Maranto of St. Gerard Majella Church. Interment following in Green Oaks Park.

A member of St. Gerard Majella Church. Retired from Savco Drug Store and a Navy Veteran of World War II. He will be remembered for his love of gardening, particularly his roses, fishing, and baseball.

Survived by his special friend, Cornelia Wilkins of Pride; sister, Orelia Reed of Bunkie; brother, John P. Jeansonne also of Bunkie; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Billy Gongre of Plaquemine. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife, Effie Hunt Jeansonne; sister, Theda Riche; brother, Earl Jeansonne; and parents, Elton and Matilda Jeansonne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
