JAMES T. "PETE" HENSON Funeral services for James T. "Pete" Henson will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Latanache Baptist Church in Batchelor, LA Internment will be in the Latanache Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. Mr. Henson, age 85, a resident of Bunkie, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Riverside Hospital, Alexandria.

He lived in the Latanache Community in Point Coupee Parish for a number of years before moving to Bunkie. He is a member of the Eola Baptist Church. Pete served in the U S Navy, was a farmer in Avoyelles Parish and he retired after 20 plus years with Mulhearn Furniture of Bunkie.

Pete was an airplane pilot and flight instructor and he trained hunting dogs. He is a 57-year member of the Masonic Fraternity and was a member of Bunkie Lodge 326, where he served as Master of Bunkie Lodge in 1983 and 1984. He also served as District Grand Lodge Lecturer in 1991, District Deputy Grand Master in 2000 and served as secretary of Bunkie Lodge for nine years.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Stuart Henson and Mildred Pearl Talbert Henson. He is survived by his wife, Vera Haddox Henson of Bunkie; one brother, Ralph Bryan Henson of Bunkie and a niece, Lisa Raver of Wolcott, IN. Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie from 5 pm - 7 pm on Monday, July 13, 2009, with Masonic services at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Latanache Baptist Church in Batchelor, LA from 1 pm until service time at 2 pm.
