Alwin Paul Villemarette

Funeral mass for Alwin Villemarette will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Bunkie.
 
Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Villemarette, 90, of Bunkie, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Naomi Heights Nursing Home in Alexandria.

Mr. Villemarette was a World War II veteran where he participated in the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach. He was a self employed auto mechanic and a grocery store owner at one time.

He is preceded in death by; his parents, Cyric and Aliska Villemarette; and a son-in-law, Sonny Melder.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rita Gauthier Villemarette of Alexandria; his son, Don Villemarette and his wife Janet of Alexandria; two daughters, Dianne Villemarette Melder of Woodworth,Ann Villemarette Wegenhoft and her husband Ken of Columbus, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie. A wake service
