Things that come to mind.
Does anyone remember the circuses that were presented on the field where
Bunkie Elementary School now stands? At that time we lived where the
school is now and the elephant from the circus used to be staked out in
our yard. This was great fun. There was also a magician at the circus
whose name was Willard the Wizard who had a daughter, Madeline. She was
6 years old when I first met her and her dad invited all of the
neighborhood children to her 6th birthday party. I will never forget
how he made the cake rise off of the table. Madeline, who lives in San
Antonio, Tx, and I are still friends. When the school board bought the
property, our house was moved across the street on telephone poles
pulled by tractors. We spent one night in the middle of the street with
flares out front and back to keep vehicles from running into the house.
