  March 13, 2009 - Election:  April 4, 2009
"Hi Dale and Sandra---Hope this note finds all well with you and yours---I am writing to ask for help (votes/support) from our fellow Bunkiens that live in the Baton Rouge area.  Lynette (Stokes)Clark's (who currently lives in Bunkie, in John Elliott's family home on Holly Street) son Lee Dominque is currently in a runoff election for the La. State Senate in the April 4th election. District 16 is his area so speak up for him because he had Bunkie roots.  Lynette and her husband John both graduated from Bunkie High in 1955 so their roots go deep.  Thanks to all in anticipation of what we Bunkiens can accomplish---Liz."
Webmaster Footnote: Thank you Liz.  Liz Chapman Reed is a BHS graduate of 1963.

Published:  March 24, 2009 - Epps House
"Hi, I subscribe to Tattler, thanks to a Bunkien I work with.  I am TRYING to locate and photograph EVERY National Register of Historic Place in Louisiana and also every Louisiana State Historical Sign.  I did a "quicky" through Bunkie just before Christmas and am planning a more concentrated  effort sometime before the Corn Fest.

Anyways, the main purpose of this email is We have attempted to find the Epps House and roadside marker and have been unable to find it. My Bunkien workmate, knew where it WAS (next to Chevrolet Dealership) on Hwy. 71.
We cannot find it  anymore.  We were wondering if it has been moved again, If it has, do you know the current location?
If not, what happened to it? Also do you know if the State marker moved with house?

Thanks so much
Paul"

Published:  March 13, 2009 - Pauline Jeansonne Laborde
"
I am looking for help in obtaining information on my mother.  She passed away
somewhere between 1963-1965 and is buried in a church cemetery in Bunkie,
Cottonport or Marksville.  Her name is Pauline Jeansonne Laborde.  She was
married to Revere Paul Laborde.  I know nothing about my fathers side of the
family.  I know he was one of 13 children.  Together my parents had 5, the last
one died with her during childbirth.  I have met my other siblings, but no one
seems to know anything.  I was taken in by Earl & Myrtle Jeansonne.  Myrtle has
passed away and Earl doesn't give out too much info.
Can you guide me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Tina Laborde Marchand

"Hi Dale,  I enjoyed reading your family ties today.  I could submit something of my family.  I have over 600 sheets going back to the l500 which I know is much too much.  When you get a work sheet fixed up I will try to follow it and submit something.  I do not have a scanner but could send you a few pictures via snail mail.  Get back with me when you're ready if you want my info.  Thanks - Alice Holland".

Webmaster Footnote:   Thank you Alice.  Alice is a BHS graduate of 1957.   I will be happy to publish any and all inputs from all Bunkiens.  Should you want to just list only yourself and your spouse and your immediate family then that is ok too.

Published:  March 31, 2009 - All Navy
Tomorrow, April 1, 2009, marks 45 years since I boarded that Trailways bus from Bunkie to New Orleans for processing into the United States Navy.  Today, I am 20 years older and two pay-grades higher than I thought I would ever be, and I still have Bunkie on my mind.  Writing this, as I sit here in a motel room in Pascagoula, MS, yes; adjacent to the Northrop Grumman shipyard where I administer to the training needs of the precommissioning crew for LHD 8 Makin Island.  Makin Island will deliver to the Navy on April 15, 2009.  View the christening of Makin Island.  MAKIN ISLAND will be commissioned October 24, 2009 at North Island Naval Air Station, on Coronado, California.

Personal Footnote: Had it not been for my good friend and Navy mentor Chief Joe Lena, who know!!!
