BHS ALUMNI LUNCHEON |
July 20, 2009 |
|
Dear
Bunkien -
Charles Rabalais and fellow BHS Alumni want to invite you for lunch. Charles writes: Hey Guys:
Date - Location - Directions Webmaster Footnote: "The
information above came from three members of the class of 1963 who live
in the Baton Rouge area and meet for lunch monthly. They want to invite
all Bunkiens to join them on August 14, 2009 for a few minutes of
fellowship."
Location: Ryan's Family Steak Houses Inc. 910 S Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA 70726 (225) 667-4882
Can be seen/located on Google Street view, Mapquest etc.
I-12 Directions from Hammond: Denham Springs Exit on South Range (3002) (NOT Juban Road exit, but the "main, old" exit by Bass Pro). Turn right on Range, go about a mile. Ryan's is in the Walmart parking lot, which is an interesting fact in itself. I-12 Directions from Baton Rouge: Same exit as above, stay in one of the left 2 lanes (I think there are 4 lanes in this exit, maybe 5), turn left (under the interstate, don't get in far left lane under the interstate, or you will have to get back on the interstate). Go about a mile or so. Ryan's is on the right, in the Walmart parking lot. Time: Shoot for 11:00 but anytime close is good. We can stay there as long as we want to, or until 10:00 P.M., whichever comes first.
I met with the manager, Robert Stack, this morning, and he reserved
a room that seats about 80 people for us at no charge. When you
enter the building, pay your bill, tell the cashier person that you
are with the Bunkie group and he/she will direct you to the room (in
the left hand side of the building, rear. Just look for a bunch of
old people all talking at once.)
Ryan's buffet lunch with senior citizen discount is about 6 or 7 dollars (I forgot to ask.) Mr. Stack said he will give the senior discount at the register to all those who claim to be seniors (60 years old) without going through the paperwork (Note to my fellow 1963 grads - WE ALL QUALIFY! (except Pete Riche). The food is good there, but not Avoyelles parish cooking, for sure. Quantity, Choices, and Fellowship will make up the taste difference! We have had a fairly good response so far, and everyone seems excited. We ask that everyone spread the word, and try to make it if possible. NO BHS alumni are too old, or not old enough. In fact some people who only WISHED that they had been able to go to BHS are probably coming, as the local rumor mill has it that this is an "Avoyelles Parish" reunion! (Maybe we'll do that next time, but we'll need a bigger place!) Camera bugs .. please bring your cameras and take (or edit) some relatively low resolution pictures. Maybe Dale will post a few for us on Bunkie.com. Thanks, Dale, for your invaluable help. If you come, Jim Bruce (Student Council President, Class of 1963), another primary instigator of this whole thing, will buy your lunch AND Sandra's!
