For you who do not know about my names. First of all my name is listed this way on the Vets Memorial in Bunkie, Louisiana and that is the way I will have it listed on my Tombstone. I was Raised AW Knaps until we left Bunkie for a short while and moved to Marshall, Texas. Dad had transferred with the Texas & Pacific Railroad to Marshall and when he was transferred back to Bunkie I entered St. Anthonys School where the kids started calling me Tex.

To this day some in Bunkie still call me Tex and some call me AW.  Now the Bill came in 1959 when I entered the United States Air Force where I spent eight years and regreted to this day that I did not stay twenty years or longer. I loved the Air Force. Back to my Name Bill. The guys in Tech School did not like calling me AW so they first started calling me Will and after just a couple of days changed it to Bill. I have gone by Bill Knaps ever since that day in 1959 so anyone who has met me after that day I tell them my name is Bill Knaps. In Bunkie I still introduce myself as AW or Tex and the same in Donaldsonville. I must use all three names in a mail like this so everyone will know just who sent this mail."
